Significance of the Seder:

  • Commemoration of the Exodus: The Seder is a central part of Passover, commemorating the Israelites' liberation from slavery in Egypt, as commanded in Exodus 12:14. Through symbolic foods and rituals, participants retell the story of the Exodus, fulfilling the biblical directive to teach this history to future generations (Exodus 13:8).

  • Expression of Gratitude and Praise: The Seder includes prayers, songs, and blessings that express gratitude to God for His deliverance and protection, as seen in the Psalms, particularly the "Hallel" (Psalms 113–118), which are recited during the Seder.

  • Education and Remembrance: The Seder is designed as an interactive teaching moment to engage participants, especially children, in understanding the Passover story. This aligns with the biblical command to remember and recount the Exodus story (Deuteronomy 6:20-23).
